It is about time I jump back into this pixelated adventure. My original plan was to play through the entire Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series. However... at the rate I get distracted I might be a senior citizen by the time I accomplish that...

Anyways, we now find our hero Kyle Katarn in a fueling station in deep space. The mission is to navigate the station, find the smuggler ship, and stow away on the vessel. This ship will eventually depart for its destination the Arc Hammer, the facility producing the Dark Troopers. At this point my nostalgia rose coloured glasses are completely off. This mission is another frustrating old school confusing ass level. Most hallways look the same so its easy to get turned around. Same list of blurry stormtroopers, imperial officers, and bounty hunters. Especially frustrating are the Trandoshans with their concussion rifles taking huge chunks out of my shields and health.

The worst part of this game is when jumping to a platform is needed. The controls are not very subtle enough for these precise actions. There is a part of this mission where you need to flip a switch that rotates this giant cylinder with a single catwalk. You need to hit this switch, run to a lift, take it to the second floor, then jump to the catwalk as its slowly moving away from the door way. You then ride this to another platform. I probably had to try this 15 times. I was either not fast enough or so fast I would land on the platform but with the momentum I would keep falling off. The game has two speeds normal and lightspeed. This makes platforming just a an agonizing chore. The next part of the mission is just as annoying as the first part. You get to a control room and there is this button you need to hit that rotates the station so you can gain access to the smuggler ship. The button though is disguised as a screen that looks just like a random computer screen. When you realize you need to click it and see that the image changes slightly, its like "well now what?!?" You end up having to go back exactly the same way you came another annoyance. You then access the smuggler ship and next stop the Arc Hammer.

I am so close to the end of Dark Forces and I am kind of relieved. It has not been such a loveable trip down memory lane as I hoped it would be. I still plan on going through the series. As long is there air in my lungs and money to pay for this website I will ramble on.

Like always thank you for visiting and stay safe out there gamers.
